End of year Holiday Season is upon us. As usual, the year went by pretty fast. Although, this month brings lots of fun stuff, it’s important to remember that December is also statistically a dangerous month. The Christmas family gathering, exchanging gifts, great food, etc can all be ruined by a serious accident or injury. Here are some leading causes of December tragedies and some important advice:
Fires: For starters, use care when cooking, ensure your smoke alarms (and carbon monoxide alarms) are working properly, practice safe practices when connecting holiday lights, and use heating appliances properly.
Falls: Getting on that step stool or ladder to decorate the tree and house isn’t worth it if you neglect to do it safely. All it takes is a fall from a ladder, etc and you may be eating your holiday dinner in the hospital emergency room.
Driving: Head to your destination early to allow for extra traffic. This should also reduce any temptation to drive erratically. Also, don’t drive distracted (texting, impaired, etc). By the way, December is National Impaired Driving Prevention Month.
