What causes kidney stones? - Arash Shadman

The biggest kidney stone on record weighed more than a kilogram and was 17 centimeters in diameter. The patient didn’t actually swallow a stone the size of a coconut; kidney stones form inside the body. So how do they grow in the first place? And why are they so painful to get out? Arash Shadman shares the science behind kidney stones.

Fairfield Art Walk

This evening, the City of Fairfield hosted a vibrant art walk event, where many artists and designers were able to showcase their talent. It was a fun event that sparked conversation, engaged our community, and allowed folks to visit our wonderful downtown businesses, all while viewing vibrant art and designs. Many of the businesses opened their doors and hosted local artists who showcased paintings, photographs and other wonderful crafts. The Matt Garcia Foundation Office hosted Mike Miller and his wonderful Wife Patricia of “Mike’s Memories on Canvas” from Napa County. They displayed much of their incredible animal paintings.

The event was coordinated by Fairfield’s own talented artist, Dennis Ariza, who owns Fairfield Arts, located at 710 Jackson Street in Fairfield. It was great to be part of this wonderful event, and we look forward to supporting Fairfield’s ongoing efforts to make our downtown a destination City.

Discover the benefits of walking, and how this simple exercise can positively impact the health of your body and brain.

While few people have the time or desire to walk such extreme lengths, research shows that adding even a modest amount of walking to your daily routine can dramatically improve your health. So, what exactly happens to your body when you increase your step count? Shannon Odell investigates.
